Richard was a loving husband to Saundria Brierley, a great dad to Joanne and Sharon, a fantastic grandad to Bethany, Thomas, Connor, Euan and Evie and a great friend to many.
He battled through right up until the end, never letting it show to his loved ones. Even in the last weeks he was still playing football with his grandson. He was brave and strong through it all and were all really proud to have known him.
We all love him and miss him so much xxx
He was the best grandad in the world. I have millions of happy memories of all the times we shared, when he taught me how to ride my bike, when he'd sit with me on a night waiting till i'd fallen asleep to go downstairs, all the old black and white films we watched, the hundreds of bike rides and walks we went on, the holidays, spending all day at the pool, our friday nights getting a kfc, going shopping on a friday night and flying around in a trolley because the supermarket was almost empty, and many many more. He wasn't like most grandads, although he did sit in his chair reading the newspaper and falling asleep sometimes :) But most of the time he'd be outside playing football with us or running around playing with the kids. Everyone loved him because he was kind and thoughtful, whenever I felt down I could always ring my grandad and he'd be there, he was my best friend :)

through the memories, the laughs, the bad jokes too
everyday i'll be missing you
grandad you were always there
you sat with me and you showed you care
i know you won't be here anymore, to teach me to drive
or to see me go to prom
but your in a better place now
I'll still watch the old black and white films
the ones i secretly enjoyed
and i'll remember all the memories we had, as time goes by
everything reminds us of you every single day
so with all those happy memories you're never far away
I want you to know I love you and you mean the world to me
grandad, you're the star I'll always wish upon and the light I'll always see.

Hey Grandad,
Wanted to tell you I passed all of my gcse's, got the results this week, got 3 A*'s, 2 A's, 5 B's and 1 C in French. Grandma was really pleased, i know you would have been too :)
Thomas passed all his too, were both starting college next week.
